Within this role you are responsible for carrying out assignments related to the manufacturing or modification of products.

The following activities may occur during the execution of the assignments:

  • Manufacturing products at our own discretion based on drawings or sketches and instructions, in such a way that they meet the qualitative and constructive requirements;
  • Determining and organizing the material, choosing the processing sequence and creating auxiliary tools necessary to optimally carry out the assignments;
  • Identifying manufacturability problems or material deviations, determining the causes and proposing solutions in consultation with the client;
  • Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on the machines, (measuring) tools, aids and installations present within the work area.

You work closely with colleagues from the other departments within the Research Center and with the Testing Technicians and Construction groups within Product Development. On occasion you may be asked to provide support to the other workshops within the Research Center.

You also contribute to the daily assignments of 3D-printed plastic components for the proto area for which we supply. You work with a CAD/CAM system. You are assessing the 3D models supplied by the customer for suitability for 3D printing and, where necessary, advising and fine-tuning the desired properties of the end product.

  • A completed Trade in a technical direction;
  • Experience with reading technical drawings;
  • Knowledge of conventional and CNC turning and milling;
  • Familiar with bench work techniques and welding techniques;
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM or 3D printing is an advantage;
  • Experience with Heidenhain is an advantage;
  • Afrikaans is your native language and you speak English fluently.

For a large client in the Automotive industry (largest truck manufacturer in Europe) we are looking for a Turner and Miller who has experience with Heidenhain. You will work in the research center where turning and milling machines, bench machines, hydraulic presses, welding machines, 3D printers and CNC controlled machines produce parts for trucks. In these departments, test setups are made of prototype vehicles and tests are carried out on vehicles and components.
