Are you an Exterior Engineer, CAD Engineer or Product Design Engineer based in Portugal and ready to work on unique, high-end technical projects? Xelvin is looking for an engineer who wants to relocate to the Netherlands and contribute to the exterior design and engineering of luxury superyachts.

In this role, you will translate design ideas and customer requirements into smart, manufacturable and high-quality technical solutions. You will work on exterior elements such as railings, sliding door systems, sunshade systems, masts, decorative elements, exterior panels and other visible parts of the yacht.

This role combines technical engineering, design sensitivity and practical manufacturability. The exterior of a superyacht must not only function perfectly, but also look flawless.

What you will do

As an Exterior Engineer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team. You will work closely with project engineers, architects, production teams and external partners.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Creating and developing 3D models for exterior yacht components.
  • Translating design concepts into practical and manufacturable solutions.
  • Engineering exterior parts such as railings, doors, sunshade systems, panels, masts and decorative elements.
  • Checking technical feasibility, quality, cost efficiency and production requirements.
  • Working with other disciplines to make sure exterior systems fit with the overall yacht design.
  • Supporting production and suppliers with clear technical information.
  • Identifying technical risks and proposing smart improvements.
  • Contributing ideas to improve quality, efficiency and manufacturability.
  • Monitoring the technical consistency of your scope within the project.

You will work on custom-built projects where every detail must match the overall design and quality standard.

What you bring

For the Portuguese market, we are looking for engineers with experience in product design, industrial design, shipbuilding, metalwork, exterior systems or high-end technical engineering.

You have:

  • A technical education such as Curso Técnico Superior Profissional, Licenciatura, Mestrado or comparable experience.
  • A background in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Naval Architecture, Shipbuilding, Furniture/Interior Technology or a related technical field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • industrial product design;
    • shipbuilding or marine engineering;
    • yacht interiors or yacht exteriors;
    • metal structures, aluminium or stainless steel components;
    • high-end custom engineering.
  • Strong experience with 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Rhino, AutoCAD, Inventor, Siemens NX, CATIA, Fusion 360 or similar software.
  • Good understanding of manufacturability, materials and technical detailing.
  • A strong eye for shape, finish and visual quality.
  • Good English communication skills.
  • Motivation to relocate from Portugal to the Netherlands.

Dutch is not required. Willingness to learn Dutch over time is a plus.
