Work on high-end technology in the world of superyachts

Are you a hands-on technician based in Portugal and ready for an international step in your career? For Alukwa, a specialist in automated aluminium door systems for superyachts, Xelvin is looking for a Field Service Engineer who wants to relocate to the Netherlands.

In this role, you will work on premium, tailor-made technical systems used on some of the most exclusive superyachts in the world. You will combine workshop preparation, installation, commissioning and international service work. Most service activities take place around the Mediterranean region and the Caribbean, so this role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical variety and international travel.

You do not need to come from the superyacht industry, but you do need strong technical skills, attention to detail and the motivation to work at a high-quality level.

What you will do

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be involved in the installation, testing, commissioning and service of automated aluminium door systems for superyachts.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Installing new aluminium automated doors on board superyachts.
  • Mounting drives, door panels, mechanical components and control systems.
  • Connecting, checking and testing control systems.
  • Commissioning automated door systems on board.
  • Performing service, maintenance and troubleshooting on superyachts worldwide.
  • Working on new-build projects at shipyards in the Netherlands and across Europe.
  • Supporting service projects mainly in the Mediterranean region and the Caribbean.
  • Working closely with colleagues, shipyards, subcontractors and yacht crews.
  • Making sure every installation meets the highest standards of quality, safety and finish.

This is a varied role where you will work in the workshop, on board at shipyards and internationally at service locations.

What you bring

We are looking for a practical and technically skilled professional with a strong sense of responsibility. You enjoy working with your hands, solving technical problems and delivering a high-quality final result.

You have:

  • A completed technical education in Industrial Maintenance, Electromechanics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a similar field.
  • For Portuguese candidates, this could for example be a Curso Profissional Técnico, Curso Técnico Superior Profissional, Nível 4 technical qualification or comparable technical education.
  • Experience with mechanical assemblies, drives, control systems or automated systems.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and the ability to connect and test technical systems.
  • Experience with aluminium, stainless steel or other metal components is a strong advantage.
  • The ability to read technical drawings or installation documentation.
  • A precise way of working: in the superyacht industry, “good enough” is not good enough.
  • A valid category B driving licence.
  • Good communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to relocate from Portugal to the Netherlands.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for installation and service work.
  • Experience in shipbuilding, yacht refit, marine service, industrial maintenance, machine building, metalwork or automation is a strong advantage.

Who you are

You are a technician who takes pride in craftsmanship. You like working on products that require precision, patience and technical insight. You understand that quality is not only about whether something works, but also about how it looks, feels and performs over time.

You are flexible, reliable and comfortable working in different environments: sometimes in the workshop, sometimes at a shipyard and sometimes abroad on board a superyacht. You enjoy variety and you are motivated to build a long-term technical career in the Netherlands.

What Xelvin offers you

Relocating to another country is a big step. Xelvin supports you throughout the process, from the first interview to your first working day in the Netherlands.

We offer:

  • A relocation opportunity to the Netherlands.
  • A gross monthly salary between €3,000 and €4,200, depending on knowledge and experience.
  • Relocation support from Xelvin.
  • Guidance with practical matters such as housing, registration and settling in the Netherlands.
  • Support with documentation needed to work in the Netherlands.
  • A solid training and onboarding programme.
  • A pleasant working atmosphere within a healthy and ambitious company.
  • A technically challenging role in a high-end international environment.
  • Excellent primary and secondary employment conditions.
  • A varied role combining workshop, installation, commissioning and international service work.
  • The opportunity to develop your technical skills through training and hands-on experience.
