Relocate from South Africa to the Netherlands

Are you an experienced HVAC technician looking for an international career opportunity?

Xelvin is recruiting skilled South African HVAC Service Technicians for a leading international technical services provider in the Netherlands. In this position, you will maintain and repair building-related HVAC installations at various commercial and industrial customer locations in the Limburg region.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified technician who enjoys technical problem-solving, working independently and providing professional service to customers.

As an HVAC Service Technician, you will be responsible for keeping HVAC and other building-related installations operating safely, reliably and efficiently.

You will travel to different customer locations throughout the Limburg region. Depending on the assignment, you may work independently or together with another technician. Because you work for different customers and across different technical environments, no two working days will be the same.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing planned maintenance and servicing on HVAC and building-related installations.
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical faults and breakdowns.
  • Inspecting heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.
  • Testing installations and ensuring that they operate according to technical and safety standards.
  • Repairing or replacing defective components.
  • Completing maintenance documentation, inspection records and digital service reports.
  • Advising customers regarding the condition and performance of their installations.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
  • Participating in a standby and call-out schedule once you are sufficiently familiar with the installations and working procedures.

We are looking for a qualified South African technician with practical experience in HVAC service, maintenance and fault-finding.

You should have:

  • A recognised technical qualification in HVAC, air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Practical experience as an HVAC Technician, HVAC Service Technician, Air-Conditioning Technician or Facilities Maintenance Technician.
  • Experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience working on commercial, industrial or building-related HVAC installations.
  • A valid driver’s licence.
  • Good English and Afrikaans communication skills.

Experience with some of the following would be beneficial:

  • Air-handling units.
  • Chillers and cooling systems.
  • Heating and boiler systems.
  • Ventilation and extraction systems.
  • Split, multi-split or VRF/VRV systems.
  • Pumps, valves, motors and control systems.
  • Building management systems.
  • Electrical fault-finding.
  • Refrigeration systems.
  • Commercial or industrial facilities maintenance.

A refrigeration or electrical trade qualification, Red Seal qualification or relevant diploma will be considered an advantage.

  • A gross monthly salary between approximately €4400,- and €4600,- based on a 40-hour working week and depending on your qualifications and experience;
  • Company car (private usage allowed);
  • Personal relocation budget;
  • Housing support;
  • 38 holidays;
  • Up to 10% profit-sharing;
  • A permanent employment contract.

Relocating to another country is a major step. Xelvin supports you throughout the entire process, from your first interview in South Africa until you are settled and working in the Netherlands.

Our relocation support includes:

  • Guidance throughout the interview and selection process.
  • Introduction and presentation of your profile to suitable Dutch employers.
  • Support with the highly skilled migrant visa application when you meet the applicable immigration requirements.
  • Support with the visa process for your spouse or partner, where applicable.
  • Guidance regarding the documents required for immigration and relocation.
  • Assistance with your flight and travel arrangements.
  • A relocation budget of up to €3,000, which can be used towards costs such as your flight, initial accommodation or rental deposit.
  • Assistance with finding suitable accommodation in the Netherlands.
  • Dutch language lessons to help you prepare for working and living in the Netherlands.
  • Support with practical matters such as registration, banking, health insurance and settling into Dutch life.
  • Continued personal support from your Xelvin consultant after your arrival.
  • Access to the XploreNL community, where you can connect with other international technical professionals who have relocated to the Netherlands.

Xelvin has extensive experience supporting South African technicians and engineers with their move to the Netherlands. You will therefore not have to navigate the relocation process alone

You will work for a major international technical services organisation that supports customers with the maintenance, improvement and sustainability of their buildings and technical installations.

The organisation is actively involved in the energy, digital and industrial transitions and employs thousands of technical professionals across the Netherlands.

You will join a supportive technical services team based near Maastricht. Together with the service coordinators and other field technicians, you will be responsible for maintaining installations at different customer locations throughout Limburg.

The environment is professional but down-to-earth. Technicians are trusted to provide advice, identify improvements and take responsibility for the quality of their work.
