Location: The Netherlands | Full-time | Open to candidates currently based in Spain

Are you experienced in Revit or BIM and interested in moving your career into the high-voltage and energy infrastructure sector?

As an Electrical BIM Modeler, you will work on the design and development of high-voltage substations in the Netherlands. You will translate electrical engineering input into accurate 3D models and technical drawings, working closely with Primary and Secondary Engineers, Civil Engineers and other BIM specialists.

You will work on both new substations and extensions or modifications of existing installations.

What will you do?

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining BIM models for electrical substation projects.

Your work will include:

  • Creating and updating 3D BIM models for high-voltage substations;
  • Modelling electrical equipment and substation components in Autodesk Revit;
  • Working with equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, busbars, cable routes and supporting structures;
  • Producing layouts, sections, details and technical drawings from the 3D model;
  • Adding and maintaining technical information and object data within the BIM environment;
  • Coordinating the electrical model with Civil, Structural and other engineering disciplines;
  • Identifying clashes and design inconsistencies;
  • Processing design changes throughout different project phases;
  • Supporting Primary and Secondary Engineers with model-based engineering;
  • Contributing to BIM standards, libraries and modelling workflows;
  • Checking models and drawings for quality, completeness and constructability.

We are interested in candidates with either an engineering or technical vocational background.

Relevant Spanish qualifications include, for example:

  • Grado en Ingeniería Eléctrica;
  • Grado en Ingeniería Electrónica Industrial y Automática;
  • Grado en Ingeniería en Tecnologías Industriales;
  • Técnico Superior en Proyectos de Sistemas Electrotécnicos y Automatizados (CFGS);
  • Older Ingeniero Técnico Industrial qualifications;
  • Or another relevant electrical, industrial or technical qualification.

More important than the exact title of your qualification is your technical understanding and experience with BIM/Revit.

What do you bring?

  • Experience with Autodesk Revit in an engineering environment;
  • Experience as a BIM Modeler, Revit Modeler, CAD Designer or Electrical Designer;
  • Ability to understand electrical layouts and technical drawings;
  • Interest in substations, electrical grids, industrial electrical systems or energy infrastructure;
  • Structured and accurate working methods;
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary engineering team;
  • Good working English.

Experience with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Solibri, Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360 or similar tools is an advantage.

Previous substation experience is highly valued, but not essential if you already have strong electrical and Revit/BIM experience.

  • €3,500 – €4,500 gross per month, depending on experience;

For an experienced electrical BIM professional, this role offers the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge in a sector with a substantial long-term project pipeline.

You will work in a multidisciplinary engineering environment on projects for the Dutch energy infrastructure. The teams consist of Primary and Secondary Engineers, BIM Modelers, Civil and Structural Engineers, Lead Engineers and Project Managers.

Projects range from the extension and modernisation of existing substations to the engineering of completely new installations. Depending on the project phase, you will work on concept design, basic engineering, detailed engineering and technical support during construction.

You will be surrounded by experienced engineers and specialists, while having room to take ownership of your own engineering scope. Collaboration between disciplines is an important part of the work, as electrical, civil, structural and control systems all come together within a substation.

The working environment is professional but informal, with short communication lines and a strong focus on technical quality and practical solutions.

Hybrid working is possible, combining office-based engineering with working from home. Depending on your position and project, occasional visits to substations, project locations or clients may also be part of the role.

You will be joining an international engineering environment. Good English is important, but speaking Dutch is not required when you start.
