Meet our Relocation & Onboarding Team

Moving to the Netherlands is an exciting step, but arriving is only the beginning. Our Relocation & Onboarding Team helps you through the next stage of your journey, helping with practical arrangements, documentation and the first steps towards building your new life and career in the Netherlands.

Step-by-step

Step 1: Residence permit

Collecting your residence permit and completing the necessary registration steps are important first milestones after arriving in the Netherlands.

Finding housing in the Netherlands can be challenging, especially in the current market. Xelvin supports and guides you throughout the process, but finding suitable accommodation is something we work on together.

Once you arrive, we help you get started with practical matters such as setting up your bank account, accessing internal systems like AFAS, understanding payslips and contracts, and answering practical questions about working and living in the Netherlands.

Have questions about moving to the Netherlands?

We regularly host Q&A sessions where you can ask practical questions about working, living and settling into life in the Netherlands.

Frequently asked questions

Where will I stay when I arrive in the Netherlands?

The priority is to make sure you will have a place to stay upon arrival, this can mean that you might be placed in temporary accommodation arranged with Xelvin. This could be a Xelvin house, short-stay apartment or similar accommodation. We work on this together before your departure to make sure everything is prepared.

During your first weeks, the Relocation & Onboarding Team helps you with essential registrations such as collecting your residence permit (if applicable), registering with the municipality (BSN registration), opening a Dutch bank account and more.

The Relocation Team is your personal point of contact. We also organise monthly Q&A sessions where you can ask questions. You’ll be guided step by step and supported with practical matters, so you don’t have to figure everything out on your own.

Family reunification is possible, but it involves a separate IND procedure with specific conditions and timelines. We recommend discussing this with the Relocation Team as early as possible.

Xelvin helps you settle into your new environment by offering Dutch language lessons, organising events with fellow Xelvin professionals and providing personal guidance.
